Sunday At The Beach

That piece of land out there is known as "Whaleback". One long moraine that was left by the glaciers as they receded. It wraps itself around Good Harbor Bay.

The clarity of the water as the low, autumn sun shines through the lapping waves.

Light, water and sand.

I liked the way the camera focused on the moving water.

The water was incredibly clear Sunday and the sun was very low on the horizon. Fall is in the air.

Early Morning Inspirations

I have never seen such exquisite embroidery.
Bohemian Market Basket – Black {The Little Market}
I always like tan and black graphic patterns.

Fall colors.
When it's gloomy outside, bring #nature in with this garden inspired #shower curtain
The next time I see a fabric to die for with a 4ft repeat I will now know what to make with it to show off the pattern.
I Really Like Their Style // funny pictures - funny photos - funny images - funny pics - funny quotes - #lol #humor #funnypictures
I have to laugh, this time of year, at the shop, it's hard to stay focused on the job when it's so pretty outside and I just want a walk on the beach in the sunshine and solitude.

Be happy today.

Rain In The Holler

Sunday morning in the Holler. It thundered and rained all night.

Good morning for a delicious breakfast. Steve made steak and potato omelette with sour cream and salsa.

It's our day off and we need to get our chores done so we can curl up with a good book in front of the fireplace.

We are headed down to Anchor Cottage to remove the pots of Geraniums and make room for Chrysanthemums and Pumpkins.

Then we are coming home to take a nap and read a book. Look at all those "project" baskets stacked around my perch. Sylvia would understand.

Have a peaceful Sunday.

Chilly In The Evening

Fall is rushing in. Most of the time we are still swimming in the big lake mid-September. This year fall arrived early with chilly evenings in front of the fireplace. So I went and found my baskets of yarn.

What shall I knit? I had to dust the balls of yarn!
Just like sewing I am good at knitting squares or rectangles. My favorite thing to knit are scarves. I finished an afghan, two years ago, for Steve's naps on the sofa. So it's been a while since I started a knitting project.

I chose to start simple. A gator stitch, ombre scarf in blues. Forty stitches on size 7 needles. This yarn is pretty ancient. Hand spun and dyed. I only have a small amount to work with, hope there is enough. Once I am confident with my knitting capabilities, the basket with the black, creme and camel yarn will be scarves for presents. Every five years, or so, I become inspired to put the textures and colors of yarn together and friends and family are the recipients of my creations!

Now to put a fire in the fireplace, it's chilly, here, in the Leelanau Peninsula.

Good Morning Anchor Cottage

Now that I have sidetracked the camera problem, for the moment, I thought I had better get some recent shots of the shop.

At this point, the change of seasons, I am ready for the earthy colors and textures that autumn brings.

The license plate artist is coming in with new work next week. Good thing, as we have sold right down to just a few choices!

Orange, yellow and red, Sugar Maple tones. Think Vermont and Maple Syrup season.

I liked the new placemat line that I introduced into the shop this July. For coming on the floor late, they actually sold pretty well.

If I had a garden room I would hang this mirror and grow Orchids and African Violets on the pedestal shelves.

Happy to have my camera operating again!

So I Stuck The Photo Card Into The Computer....

Flowers from my garden in my mother's vase.

Early morning dew on the Peace Rose.

Delphinium Blue.

Enjoying my garden's colors before I start my work day.

What is bringing in fall on your kitchen windowsill?

I took these images off of shelterinteriordesign.blogspot.com. She has the best taste, head over to her site to enjoy a visual desert!

Until I can get into Traverse City to get my camera looked at I will be posting pictures that the computer has to offer.
