The August Light Is Around The Corner

Moving deep into summer.

Darker, richer colors make their debut.

Listening to the Loons, call out, across the bay.

Outdoor suppers, served, under the grape arbor.

Mop Head Hydrangeas hanging heavy and low to the ground.

Comfortable basket chairs.

Fresh porch pillows features the bounty of the harvest to come.

Pillows to perk up your room looking out over big blue.

Life on the farm!

A new rug at your kitchen sink.

Reflection of July going by.

This is my favorite time of summer, when after all the troops have trotted through the shop, I pause and freshen up the decor. Bringing in the deeper colors and comfortable, laid back furnishings.

Have a great weekend!

Pulled In A Direction I Can Not Conquer.

Where could I ever paint a moody wall?
Have the taste to put together pieces that look like they couldn't do without each other!
Love me some old world decor.
Searching for a farmhouse, to open up the old bones, and make it mine. Been looking at real estate in Murfreesboro TN.
A talented colorist, Lily Pulitzer, how did she learn to blend her water colors?
The oriental bling from the east, chinoiserie, they call it.
How do I get this bathroom for my own?

Is it a matter of time and resources that is stopping me?
Or is it that I can't do this on my own and, some how, I have to talk to the relevant other and see if he will give me the lead.
I am not afraid of change just afraid that I will become too old to get it right!

Randy Kaylor's Pickles

Randy Kaylor's pickles...enough said! These pickles made their way from Alabama and they have the best flavor, can't quite put my finger on the name of the secret ingredient.

I was lucky enough to have the band sleep over Thursday night! I was unlucky enough to miss their concert last night. Sat in traffic for forty minuets in Traverse City yesterday for a bike-a-thon. The Jeep's air conditioning pooped out and the thermometer said we were roasting at ninety one degrees. We pulled off to see what was going on and were told that the bikers were coming in and traffic on the roads that crossed the bike trails had been paused. By then it was six o'clock so we turned around and went to Folgarelli's and bought two sandwiches and headed back home for a swim in Big Blue.  Took a swim for the band.

I think love is the secret ingredient, whether it's pickles or sleep overs, love is what makes it good.

Rocking The Beach Scene

Put this bed together for a customer who is using Danish Modern bedroom furniture.

If I do really well in July this is coming home with me! Bunny Williams pillows and throw.

Love the softness of this bed, think sandy beaches, a honeymoon  every night, how romantic.

Here is to the most beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters.

Take advantage of the big whirlpool. Take a swim every chance you get. Summer goes quick around here.

Sand castles and candle light al fresco dinners on the shore. Waiting for the sunset to appear.

Going for a swim and a walk on the beach after work!

Sitting On My Front Porch

The afternoon light was so pretty coming through the trees.

Sitting in my rocker looking over the porch railing.

The Hydrangeas filter the sun like stained glass windows.

Ferns, tall and swaying, they love the low light and cool nights.

I will paint this.

Look at all the shades of color.

They wintered over in the downstairs bathroom, hanging over the claw foot tub, you know what a bear these ferns can be, shedding all over the place.

They filled out nicely.

Local ferns that transplanted themselves!

I, still, have not left my rocker.

Path to the garden or through the garden!!

Such a pretty view from the porch this afternoon.

If you click on this you can see the hummingbird waiting, in mid air, for his feeder to be filled.

And all I had to do was sit and enjoy the afternoon.

Certainly not as sunny out as I wished it could be. No blue skies with fluffy white clouds today. These blue and white images are very fresh. Surprised I could put together an "only" blue and white blog without adding a little color. What restraint shown here!

It Has Been A Busy Week

The full alphabet of Nautical Signal Flags came in and were hung in order.

Pine Cone Hill made deliveries everyday this week and I have more coming today!

New art work on display.

Linda Dahl dropped off five very pretty watercolors.

Holly Sturges painting and Bunny Williams pillows.

Note cards by Harrison Howard for Caspari.

Steve put my Whirly Boats up.

Pretty neat!

The lamp shades are piled to the ceiling. Fabric and bedding swatches, wallpaper books and front door mats all in one corner of the shop.

These totes are good for summer fun because they are made of polypropylene and can take the water and sun!

Pick Me and Bite Me by Big Tomato.

Trays on tray stands, ceramic garden stools and beautiful mirrors for your home.

A pop of color for your garden room.

Coco Sews came by and dropped off a bag of pillows made just for Anchor Cottage.

The store is full of lamps, rugs and bedding for your summer cottage. Wedding and Baby shower gifts with pretty wrapping paper and ribbons available. Great vinyl place mats with printed napkins for  dinning
alfresco.

Have a happy weekend with friends and family!
