Coco Sews Some Pillows

Counting down the days, I have left, to complete the list of one of a kind pieces for Anchor Cottage.

So I called in the big guns! "Coco Sews" is an artist who can take the material in hand and produce a perfected craft.

With Anchor Cottage under going renovation, the pile of "Found" and "One Of A Kind" pieces are pilling up in my home.

Time to bag, box and take the merchandise out to the studio for storage until we can move into the shop.

This collection, of pillows, gave me a great idea for a vignette in the nautical corner of Anchor Cottage. Must get my oars painted!

With twenty three days, to go, until spring has sprung, the fresh, beach side vibe of these pillows will have to fill the void!

Thank you Catherine, "Coco Sews", for the nice work you do.

Wish I had the discipline to do an all blue and white color scheme.
I had a hard time not throwing in a red and white picture today!
The row of twin beds are darling, especially like the way the little, vintage, dresses are displayed.
I want to highlight the seashells in black!
The blue and white check fabric is a hit this season, I have seen it in all the decorating publications and have used it, myself, in a linen fabric for pillows.
The pillows and the throw with the different trims and the white matelasse  are on my list of "to create".
The tiny, blue and white, French toile, baby shoes stole my heart.

Anyone else drawn to the freshness of blue and white?

Never Know Where Your Inspiration Will Come From

Last week I stopped at Jackie-the-decorator's home to show her some off white linen samples. In turn she had been cleaning out her sources and handed me a Ralph Lauren fabric swatch of Madras Plaid, boy did it look good with the linen.

When I arrived home and headed upstairs to drop my bags I laid the linen and the plaid on top of my UK House & Garden magazine which happen to be open to a page featuring Christopher Farr Cloth, La Foret by Raoul Dufy. This is where the excitement starts!

Lying next to the Christopher Farr Cloth ad were two pictures I had torn out of another British publication. One of a stoneware mug called Magda, made exclusively for Habitat, and a giclee print of a sign called Run from Archie Proudfoot.

Needless to say the components went together like they were chosen on purpose. Amazing where inspiration comes from.

Another weekend in winter...Stay warm.

New Dash & Albert Rug Swatches

Weighing in at 35.5 lbs, the rug swatches, for the 2016 season, arrived down here in the Holler.

So, of course I had to open them to see what they looked like!

The selection of swatches are fabulous!

The PET fibers, recycled polyester, are indoor/outdoor rugs that are very soft under bare feet.

The rug patterns have been designed as backdrops on your floor. They create a sense of continuity within the room.

The new colors are so "Lake Michigan" friendly.

Cottage, cabin or contemporary home decor.

Price points per square foot make them affordable for summertime digs in the woods or on the water.

If you see anything that you like, e-mail me, and I can arrange to get some of these swatches in your hand.

The rugs come in all the in-stock sizing, 1.5 x 2 up to 12 x 20!

It's going to be a great season, schlepping rugs, down at Anchor Cottage Freshwater Decor.

A Sunny Sunday!

On the kitchen window sill.

My favorite Irish pottery, Nicholas Mosse.

The sun really brought the colors to life.

What a beautiful, sunshiny day.

Fresh and happy colors.
 Love the pink buffalo check.
Do you force your Forsythia? I try to every March.
Blue and white, by it's self, is so crisp and clean.
Yellow tasseled fringe to shake it up a little.
Lovely pink and white vase with a small amount of bling.
Obviously my pins are reflecting my thoughts of
sunshine and blue skies.

Have a sweet Valentine weekend!

Winter Landscape

A writer's dream of no distractions.

Quiet, muffled of sound.

Gray and white charcoal smeared softly.

Where to go but inside the machinations of the mind.

We are in the depths of winter.
Color sucked out of the season.

We are the tough ones, alive, in the land of no light.
Time to pull on my red sweater!

Having A Cozy Winter In The Studio

It is a freedom, of sorts,
to have a space where anything goes.

Standing in front of windows filled with light.

Having enough wall space to hang what ever you want.

To play music and enjoy the flowers .

Benjamin is cozy!

I would recommend a light filled space for the imagination to take a vacation and create, without boundaries, a collection of senses. Sight, sound and scent. The view out the windows, the acoustics of the music as the scent of paint permeates your nostrils.

A liberating feeling.
