Hello Fall!!

Anchor Cottage is decked out for fall.

We stacked Cinderella squashes on either side of the door.

And filled our metal baskets full of gourds.

Fall in the Leelanau Peninsula is beautiful, the leaves turn yellow, orange, red and brown against the blue skies. The Apple trees are full of fruit. The chilly nights make for good sleeping underneath your down comforter with the window cracked open. Think i'll bake an apple pie when I get home from work tonight.

Dust, Polish and Vacume

Just like at home, when I start to dust around and find it easier to rearrange and dust the whole space all at once!

I move things from one table to another and create new vignettes as I clean!

I tidied up rug world and put all these rugs together in this basket and it looks all fresh and new.

Put a new quilt under the Emma Bridgewater mug display and it perked right up.

Look how pretty the glassware is, all polished, like my mother taught me:-)

Money's Folk Art on the front table.

I love the farm look! So cozy.

The next day, when I came in, the whole shop looked all fresh, tidy and pretty. When I was a little girl I would sit in the chair and watch my mother clean her house. I would ask, "mom, isn't it a lot of work to clean the house?" She would answer back, "I just love it when my house looks pretty, so it's not work at all."

Feeling The Fall Nesting Instinct

Steve painted the island in the kitchen Sherwin Williams "Dancing Green". I like the black and white rug and painted white chairs against the green.

We upholstered the stools in "Unicorn" for Duralee.

Filled a bowl with just picked apples.

Put "Gypsy Rose" wool hooked rug from Dash and Albert in front of the kitchen sink. I have a tough time with colors and exposure on this camera. But I hope you can see that the effect of the colors and the patterns turned out very cozy in our full log home, without being too dark.

September Is The Color Of Yellow

I am going swimming after work, so I packed my beach towel in my Sea Bag this morning.

I planted a Birch Tree and Sunflower seeds beneath it. Now you can't even see the tree for the flower!

My Whirlyboats are just lazily going around in the breeze.

Anchor Cottage is sporting big yellow Mums at her front door.

September is a beautiful time of year to visit the Leelanau Peninsula. Good Morning America named Sleeping Bear Dunes America's most beautiful place. We are very fortunate to live here.
