June's Gentle Greens

Three more weeks until the sun reaches it's most northern parallel.

The sun is slowly making it's way, lighting fronds and leaves.

Back-lighting the plants and trees.

The sun hangs low in the evening, shinning through the different greens.

Are there this many greens in a painter's pallet?

Reaching for the light, spreading out and soaking in the sun.

Standing straight, reaching up to the light.

Pale greens and blue greens.

White greens and green tinted yellow.

Spilling down the hill, like a bridal train.

Michigan Cactus coming back again.

The loveliness of light kissed greens.

200 Pounds Of Dogs

This is Joe Johnson from Wisconsin. We really don't know where he came from, as he just showed up and unpacked his bags! We think he is an S. C. Johnson heir so we call him Joe Johnson from Wisconsin.

My darling little Chocolate Lab is Benny. He is a doll. He came to us when he was 4 months old. We love him to bits!

While Benny is off chasing butter flies Joe just stands in one place and watches him go by. Benny reminds me of Ferdinand The Bull, he has no aggressive tendencies, just likes to smell the flowers!

Caught Joe drinking out of the birdbath again!

When I became an empty nester and missed having Chris and Tim around, Ben and Joe filled the gap.

Mary Lou Peters Post Cards

Anchor Cottage
"I've just completed a commissioned postcard design for Anchor Cottage, a nautical-themed gift shop in Suttons Bay, Michigan on the Leelanau Peninsula. It's a lovely setting and they carry the most unique lines of gifts, bedding, and artwork."

Red White and Blue Holiday Table

Red, white and blue for Memorial Day and Fourth of July into Labor Day! Red Geraniums, red, white and blue buntings, red sailed sail boats on the water.

I have found myself leaning toward this combination of colors all spring! I redid my bedroom in red, white and blue and right now my front porch is decked out with a navy blue lounge, two white chairs and a red table.

My mother dressed me in blue oxford cloth shirts and red plaid skirts, suede shoes with red rubber soles! I wonder if that's why I lean this way:-)

Hooray for the red white and blue may it wave as our banner for ever....even marching bands remind me of a red, white and blue summer's day!

Let the season begin.

Once Upon A Mother's Day

I had the nicest Mother's Day this year.

My Honey picked me up from work and took me to Shelia's Country Side Gardens to pick out flowers for my plantings.

Then, because we were on "that" side of the county we had dinner at Sugar Foot's Saloon.

After a big ole Burrito we walked Good Harbor Bay.

Big water and big sky!!

We laid in the sand and skipped stones across the water.

We had the whole place to ourselves.

After awhile we decided to find a sunset.

So we drove and we drove, north, up the coast.

And, as the sun does not set until 9:05pm, we ended up north of the 45th parallel to watch the sun set.

Love my flowers.

My Honey hung up the hose. LOL

I am planting the flowers around the patio table and chairs. It will be a pretty place to sit and have breakfast before work this summer.

What a great day and a great Honey:-)

Cherry Picking in Beulah

Took a Sunday drive to Myer's Granary, in Beulah, to look for nautical pieces for Anchor Cottage.

Fun signage for your Lake Leelanau fish camp.

Good pair of occasional tables for the cottage.

Found quite a few sailboat glasses and sold four of them on Monday!

This was the pick! Up, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted this tile. Loved the colors and the glaze. I looked around for something to stand on so I could reach it. Nothing. So I licked my thumb and finger and did my Olympic stretch up on my toes and snagged it! Turned it over and saw it was a Pat Custer Denison!! Score(-:

Didn't hurt that the little blue and white English transfer-ware pot was just below it.

Friday's Flowers At Hoot's Holler

The Boxwood Topiary, Primrose, Snowdrops and yellow silk ribbon are from The Red Ladder in Suttons Bay Michigan.
Every so often I stop in and buy myself a treat and right now I am eyeballing the Grape Hyacinths that she has out.
I started collecting the English Tins and have thoughts of nailing them up on the studio wall to hold bits and pieces!

Have a happy Friday and a great weekend.
