This Weeks Projects

Painted half of my bedroom Sherwin Williams Dover White. The bedroom takes up the whole upper level of the house, quite roomy! Taylor Linen duvet and sheets, Pine Cone Hill bed skirt and quilt, Dash & Albert rug. Looks pretty!!

Funny thing is I wanted new bedding  but, as you can see, the  old bedding looks pretty good. If you look in the background you can see the old paint color. A dingy green I did not care for.

Which way to go...pink and white or red, blues and white? Next, I will pull everything out of the other side of the bedroom and finish painting it out in Dover White. This whole floor combines, office, sewing room and sleeping quarters/dressing and bath. Love having a work in progress.

I designed large floor cushions for the shop. 26"x26".

I really like the combinations of patterns. I need to buy some big, fat cording for the trims.

These two fabrics are already made into pillows and are at the shop, ready to sell. Had a great week "tweaking" my imagination.

She's Been Playing With Her Fabrics Again!

A lot of thought goes into buying fabrics for the shop.

I needed to keep reminding myself that even though it was fall, I selected these at High Point in October, I am buying for spring at Anchor Cottage.

I think this body of fabric, I brought back, is young and colorful and should sell well this coming season.

I am heading back down to North Carolina to meet with the company, that I buy my fabrics from, to pick out fabric swatches for the summer time.

I love this Colfax and Fowler remnant I picked up.

I want to use these two patterns in the same room.

This pattern will go on a wing chair.

Today was the last day of the winter season here at Anchor Cottage. Now is the time to get some sunshine on my brow.
Anchor Cottage will reopen mid March, unless there is too much snow to dig out, then I will see you April 1st! If there is anything you need from the store shoot me an e-mail and I will see if I can help you. Have a great weekend!

What To Wear?

I was looking through my clothing catalogs the other day and found some pieces that might do if I had to suddenly travel to see my son in Brooklyn. I like the boots with the studs, the simple vest and v-neck sweater with the white shirt underneath and the scarf wrapped around the neck.

I found a mother-of-the-groom dress in case I got so lucky as to welcome a daughter-in-law into the family.

This cuff has my name written all over it!!

In March I travel to Florida to hear my other son play music. I thought the stripe shirt, little leather sandals and some tight jeans would be fun.

Of course, I need a new bathing suit to wear on the beach.

Do I want the red tunic or the navy?

And, yes, two more pairs of shoes!! The little red driving shoe is adorable.

Catalogs in the backwoods are like store windows in the city. Window shopping anyway you slice it(-:

A Productive Week Off

I stripped the upholstery off of these four chairs so I could paint the undersides and legs. I did one coat of latex primer and two coats of Sherwin -Williams White Duck in oil. I think the chairs are from the forties because the last bit of upholstery was vinyl. What a lot of staples and upholstery tacks that had to be pried off.

Rocky's Upholstery will be picking them up next week and recovering the chairs in this nautical fabric that was printed in Spain.

I am adding grommet details on the skirt.

I want a short little skirt with stainless grommets with boat line threaded through and  tied in a nautical knot for a fun detail.

I have a small drop leaf table that I will paint in the White Duck oil (it's all about the high gloss finish). Should make a good looking game table with the chairs around it in somebody's cottage.

Inspiration

Saw this apartment on "Marcus Design" this morning and had to pass it on. The credit goes to Elizabeth Bauer via Lonny.

If I had only one room to live in it would feel like this!
