Loss

There is a man, his life shattered, who can pick up the pieces? Only the ones who had a place in his heart can pick up the pieces never to put them together again but keep them in their pocket so his heart will forever remain in their lives until the end of time on earth as we know it.

Happy Labor Day!!

With the sun behind my shoulder
there stands Pyramid Point in all her glory.

Steve and I plopped down onto our chairs, thought we had the beach to ourselves.

Next thing I knew there was a
Labor Day beach party to the south of us!

Snorkelers swimming past us looking at beach stones.

The party moved to the north of us!

What a great beach day had by all:-)

Labor Day Weekend At Anchor Cottage

Nautical world has been a great section of the store for the men this season.

This duvet has rich fall colors in the pattern.

,
Originally, when I put the Americana Collection together last winter, I had envisioned it hanging on a long porch over a wood pew on a shiny green painted porch floor.

After selling numerous pieces out of the collection I hung what is left on the dark green wall. Wow, it looks really good.

These placemats are top notch dressy and casual at the same time.

Now that I have seen what a lousy job I did of photographing these flags I should go back to the store and do a re-shoot! But I wanted to get this post out while I had the five minuets!

This is an awesome group of pillows for that cabin on Lake Leelanau.

Do I really have to go into the shop today? Shouldn't everyone be at the beach? I haven't decided yet.
Beach, shop, beach, shop.

A white kitchen doesn't have to be all white. Here, designer Andrea Schumacher swapped upper cabinets for just two small shelves so the fanciful floral wallpaper is the star. For contrast, she chose an emerald green tone from the wallpaper to paint the kitchen's island.

I enjoy searching "pinterest", the search can take you to all kinds of kindred souls pinning the same design that you like. This weekend found me drawn to fresh and youthful styling.

 Good start for a Monday!

Colors Of Autumn

Funny how, instinctually,
we migrate into an autumn sense of color.

The pastels of summer become the gem tones of fall.

Gold, Burnt Orange, Bark Brown and Fuschia.

Changing over into the next season at the shop.

Shouldn't the French Bistro chairs
be sporting some Sheep Skin chair pads?

Plenty of time left to dine outdoors
as I am praying for an "Indian Summer"!

The blue and white looked rather chilly! We have been in the mid fifties-low sixties in Northern Michigan, this week.

So I added some orange oriental plates to warm it up.

Looks more in season!

Roll neck sweaters for the little sailors.

Looks cozy from the counter.

Pretty dishes to dress up your plate rails.

I might have to take these pillows to Florida.

The bark and the pine needle pillows look good with the loon pillow in the red wagon.

Time to cozy up the, "under the eaves", guestrooms at the cottage.

Ah, the nesting instinct.
 Happens every year!
