What's In Your Garden?

Delphinium, Foxglove, Peonies, Peace Rose, Blackeyed Susans, Queen Ann's Lace and Daisies.

Saving this shot for a saltwater watercolor this November.

I turned the sprinkler on yesterday and soaked the flowers. The blossoms became too heavy with water and fell over so I had to go out this morning and cut them. This is truly a "star spangled" arrangement.

Spent Fourth Of July With Gabe

I had a helper in the store over the fourth.

Together we flipped the bedroom from pink to nautical.

Look at these beautiful landscapes by Holly Sturges.

You can not just change the bedding
the whole room has to rotate it's stock!

I love this look for those knotty cedar cottages on Lake Leelanau.

Gabe's grandfather came in bearing cold bottles of water for us and he took pictures of this bed to show his wife. He liked it!

For once I did not do the "ladder" work all by myself, it made the change over so much easier.

I just love the colors.

Thank you Gabe for going up and down the ladder and Ann for getting you up here so I had help for the busy holiday weekend.

Fourth of July was a bang!!

A Cherry Festival Fourth Of July In Leelanau County

You think you're ready for the onslaught of tourists coming through your backdoor.

You place your Fermob Bistro table and chairs out where everyone can see.

The vignettes are piled toward the ceiling enticing customers to purchase something fun.

July Fourth is an exciting holiday "with bombs bursting in air" to quote Francis Scott Key.

The Money's can't wait for the fireworks!

Look at all the fun stuff!

Ken Scott and the Leelanau Enterprise put together the "Back Pages of  Leelanau County", the pages are packed full of photographs showing the beauty of the peninsula.

This wicker couch would be great on my front porch.

Ready for the barbecue!

Hand painted trays.

These make an excellent extra table for entertaining.

So pretty in someones garden room.

I could do a room around these colors.

I finished flipping half of the store for the holiday week. Tomorrow the other half is getting her look perked up!

Mary Blocksma regional prints and stationery.

The most recent, fun piece, in the store. "pocket the date" is a calendar with pockets for each month. A great organizer for what ever you have planned for your year, from weddings to complete decorating makeovers, this is the organizational tool that you need!

The next six weeks on our peninsula, is just one large frolic on the water, with family and friends.

Enjoy!

These two prints of vintage French textiles (titled Pignier Carousselle 1 & 2) are brilliant use of color and pattern, and the palette of greens–from those chinoiserie throw pillows to that lime ottoman–is a perfect (nearly botanical) setting for it. Wish I had a shop in Florida.

Having a shop in Northern Michigan is rather restricting as far as light, airy, decorating year round. Customers tend to treat their cottages more informal almost rustic in spirit of water, pinetrees and sandy feet. If the homes are used year round then they tend to lean on the lodge side of cozy and comfortable.

Fresh, full of light, blue and white.
Soft edges and lines.
A little more "picked up", not as casual.
Let's wear a skirt to work attitude.

I find myself wearing jeans to work, more often than not, but the blue jean style lends itself to the area.
Lady like confines of decorating, minding your manners, enjoying the pretty surroundings of your home reminds me of Florida style.

A thought for this morning!

Fermob Chairs In Carrot

I am stocking this line at Anchor Cottage.

I have not ordered enough pieces to become a dealer but,
 I hope I do.

The colors are rich.

The finish is silky soft.
They have good heft and sit very sturdy.

I have the Bistro chairs and tables in Cedar or Carrot for retail in the shop.

If they run out the door, which I think they should, I can order in more colors and designs. I already wished I had ordered the bar height seats for either side of my counter.

Go to the website, see if there are any designs and colors
 you would like to order.

 Let's stock this baby!
