On the way to the Empire Bluff Trail we stopped at the darling Red Gate Farm. We bought flowers and strawberries, jam and granola. Then headed over to Inspiration Point. |
As we cruised our way through the tiny village we stopped at Sleeping Bear Gallery. Doesn't this bronze sculpture have good detail? |
We climbed and we climbed, almost a mile up the path, to the top of the bluffs. South of the Sleeping Bear Dunes looking north out over Lake Michigan. The view is spectacular. |
All that climbing made us thirsty so we headed to Art's Tavern for a beer to wet our whistle and on the way over we did a double take! Jimmy's Pot Heads!! We thought that was hilarious. |
The day was rather misty in the distance so the breathtaking views were not as distinct as I would have liked. This view is all the way to Traverse City from central Leelanau County. It's a well kept secret, let me know if you can recognize it. We made it home and grilled Cedar Hot Dogs and made samores. They were the best Cedar dogs I have ever had! Must have been the company. I slept like a log that night. |
